Chabad of Grass Valley Campaign Story
It all started in January 2017, when we embarked on our first year of Shlichus in Grass Valley, California, a truly postcard town nestled in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Foothills.
We had our work cut out for us, and our mission was clear. We were eager to spread the light of Torah to our Jewish neighbors in Grass Valley, Nevada City and its surrounding areas. Our community started with just a few families as we began to open up our home for Shabbat and holiday services, learning programs, and gatherings. In just one year those few families grew into dozens.
Now, Chabad of Grass Valley offers a plethora of meaningful and engaging Torah programs, community events, and more.

Our shul and center for Jewish life are bursting at the seams. With your help, we can grow together even more!
Hebrew School has tripled in size, we’ve gone from one camp bus to two full buses, our shul is packed on Holidays and we’ve needed to move Shabbat activities to large outdoor tents. To accommodate our growing community, we’ve rented various larger spaces throughout the years, but now it's time to give our Chabad of Grass Valley community its own place to call home.
A unique opportunity has come up to purchase the perfect larger property right next door to our current location, and we need your help to ensure this expansion!
This expansion will enable us to open our high-in-demand Gan Co-Op, a dream come true for families in our community. Our vision is to create a loving and enriching environment for toddlers and young children and to nourish each child’s heart, mind and soul. The Grass Valley Gan seeks to ignite a spark in each child for a lifetime passion for learning and loving Judaism.
A larger property also enables us to have enough classrooms for the Gan and Hebrew School and the opportunity to comfortably welcome more families who want to participate. We also have plans to create a space for large community gatherings, and so much more.
The need for expansion is urgent. Without a larger space, it is extremely challenging to adequately serve our community. We need your help to continue teaching and spreading the light of Judaism to the next generation of Grass Valley!
